Membership FAQ

Get quick answers to common questions we receive about membership at Thrivent.

Have additional questions? Reach out to us below. We’re happy to help.
What is a fraternal benefit society?
At our heart, Thrivent is a membership-owned fraternal organization. The Thrivent membership shares a Christian Common Bond and a commitment to help strengthen the communities where they live, work and worship through their local Thrivent Member Networks.

The Thrivent membership is also committed to aiding each other through insurance and annuities benefits, and Thrivent's sale of those products is limited to clients with membership.

Clients without membership may purchase non-fraternal services, such as financial planning and non-insurance investments, from Thrivent's financial advisors, subsidiaries and affiliates.
Why should I join Thrivent’s Membership and what are the benefits?
When you join Thrivent, you become part of something bigger. You share in the collective ownership of our company and you’re part of a community of people looking out for others.

In addition to Thrivent’s financial expertise and solutions, membership provides eligible clients with more than 15 different programs and benefits to make it easy to give of yourself and live a more meaningful life.
How do I apply for membership?
If you are a Christian, or the spouse of a Christian, and agree to support and further Thrivent's shared purpose you are eligible to become a member by completing our membership application. Your membership class, and the benefits you are eligible for, depend on your relationship to Thrivent.
How do I renew my associate membership?
Membership renewal notices arrive approximately 30 days prior to payment due date, with instructions on the back of the renewal form. If renewing after the payment due date or if the renewal notice is lost, contact Thrivent at 800-847-4836 and say “Fraternal” when prompted.
