Raising money for hurricane relief
New York’s Sarah Humphrey (left) and Karen Maresco teamed with local farms to hold a plant sale. The proceeds helped people in Puerto Rico.
Plants for Puerto Rico
When Sarah Humphrey of Huntington, New York, wanted to help people affected by 2017's Hurricane Maria, she formed a Thrivent Action Team and joined with her friend Karen Maresco to organize a plant sale. The pair collected orders, picked up seedlings from local growers, and raised nearly $2,000, which paid for supplies taken to Puerto Rico on a mission trip.
