Frequently asked questions
What is a Habitat & Thrivent Worldwide trip?
Habitat and Thrivent Worldwide trips are opportunities to put your generosity into action. Teams of volunteers build homes and experience beautiful cultures during a week-long build. No special skills are required.
What impact is COVID-19 having on Habitat & Thrivent Worldwide trips?
Habitat for Humanity International and Thrivent have suspended all Habitat and Thrivent Worldwide trips until further notice due to the pandemic.
How are the locations for Habitat & Thrivent Worldwide trips selected?
Habitat and Thrivent Worldwide trips only travel to host offices that meet Habitat for Humanity International's Global Village program standards, focusing on areas where help is needed and where Thrivent can significantly impact building capacity for a Habitat host office.
Is there an age limit for participants?
Those younger than 18 may only participate if their participation has been approved by the team leader and host office and if they are accompanied by a parent or guardian. The minimum age for participation on a team is 16 years—or older if required by the hosting program or child labor laws.
Do I need homebuilding experience or the ability to speak another language?
We welcome everyone who wants to contribute to our work, no matter your background, religion or race. Previous construction experience or fluency in a second language is not required. Please note, however, that manual labor is a part of the trip, so all participants should be in good health.
