Minnesota Twins, Thrivent Launch Multi-Year Partnership with Community Focus

The two legacy Minnesota brands will provide $200,000 annually to local nonprofits through a fan-directed give-back program.
Mar 27, 2024

MINNEAPOLIS – The Minnesota Twins and Thrivent, a Fortune 500 diversified financial services organization, today announced a multi-year partnership – including a new fund that provides $200,000 annually to select local nonprofits, naming rights to Target Field’s club level and a rebranded annual ticket plan – that will inspire a new model for collaborative community impact. Through a newly created Twins and Thrivent joint fund, fans will be able to direct donations to featured nonprofits each year via in-ballpark voting. Additionally, Target Field’s club level – one of the ballpark’s premier year-round destinations – has been renamed as the Thrivent Club, and the team’s annual ballpark pass ticket plan is now rebranded as the Twins Pass presented by Thrivent.

“The Minnesota Twins and Thrivent have a shared goal of helping people build a better tomorrow through meaningful acts of generosity, and this partnership brings together two legacy Minnesota brands to create a new model for community impact,” said Twins President & CEO Dave St. Peter. “Alongside Thrivent, a purpose-driven financial services leader, we’ll introduce Twins fans to impactful nonprofit organizations and invite them to vote on how and where to direct our philanthropic dollars. We believe a partnership of this scale is unique in Major League Baseball and we’re confident it will not only create a positive impact in our communities for years to come, but also inspire acts of service and generosity across Twins Territory.”

“As a financial services company that puts generosity at the heart of saving and investing, we’ve been helping people use their finances to lead lives of service and faith for more than 120 years,” said Carolyn Sakstrup, Thrivent’s Chief Growth and Generosity Officer. “Our partnership with the Minnesota Twins unites two hometown brands to inspire generosity and help people give back to causes they care most about. The Minnesota Twins and Thrivent both care deeply about strengthening the community and we look forward to reimagining community-directed impact programs together and creating meaningful experiences for Twins fans at Target Field.”

Fan-Directed Philanthropy
Through the new, joint fund, the two brands will provide $200,000 annually in philanthropic donations to at least 20 nonprofit organizations. Recipients will change each year to align with that season’s philanthropy focus areas. Each featured nonprofit will be selected and vetted by the Twins and Thrivent, and all will receive funds. Contributions will range from $5,000 to $15,000 per organization and be determined by in-ballpark fan voting held throughout each season.

This innovative and fan-directed approach – at a size and scope believed to be unique in Major League Baseball – will engage fans in attendance during every Twins regular season home game at Target Field. Additional program details include:

  • Maximizing Impact: Each season, the Twins and Thrivent will feature a generosity theme and direct $160,000 to nonprofits whose work aligns with the impact area. “Active Minds and Active Bodies” is the theme for the 2024 season and 16 nonprofit organizations were chosen because of their efforts to inspire a love of play and a love of learning among youth in Twins Territory. Additionally, each nonprofit organization will receive extra exposure in the stadium through public service announcements.
  • Hit for the Cycle: Each season will have four distinct voting cycles open to all fans and centered on a specific concentration area within the larger theme; each cycle features four nonprofit organizations apiece. The 2024 cycles are:
    • Education (20 Twins home games from April 4-May 9)
    • Access to Play (20 Twins home games from May 14-June 20)
    • Nourishing Mind and Body (17 Twins home games from July 2-August 11)
    • Mentorship (18 Twins home games from August 12-September 15)
  • Every Game, Every Fan, Every Vote: All fans attending each Twins regular season home game at Target Field are invited to vote for a featured nonprofit via the MLB Ballpark app.
  • Everyone is a Winner: The Twins and Thrivent will award $40,000 during each grant cycle, with each of the four featured nonprofits receiving funds to further their work. The nonprofit with the most fan votes will receive $15,000; the runner-up will get $12,000; the organization with the third-most votes will be given $8,000; and the fourth will be presented with $5,000.
  • Thrivent Club Exclusive: Thrivent Club members will have an exclusive voting opportunity to direct the remaining $40,000 in philanthropic donations.
  • From the Twins and Thrivent to the Community: Every dollar provided to featured nonprofits comes exclusively from the Twins and Thrivent to help build a better tomorrow.

In 2025 and beyond, each season’s philanthropic theme will be announced by the Twins and Thrivent prior to Opening Day. Additionally, participating nonprofits and additional Thrivent Club impact areas will be revealed before each voting cycle.

Thrivent Club at Target Field
As part of the partnership, Thrivent also was given naming rights to Target Field’s club level – now called the Thrivent Club at Target Field. The Thrivent Club at Target Field encompasses 3,000 seats that stretch from first to third base along the infield, includes dynamic indoor social gathering spaces and a wide variety of dining options, and serves as a top destination for Twins fans all season long.

Beyond baseball, the Thrivent Club – with its spacious lounge areas, experienced culinary team, and beloved displays celebrating the legends of Twins baseball – is a popular year-round destination for events ranging from tradeshows and galas to conferences and holiday parties. Season tickets or group tickets to Twins home games in the Thrivent Club are available now at twins.com, while information on its world-class hosting capabilities can be found via Target Field Events.
