Prepare for your future, protect your dreams, preserve your independence
Change State THRIVENT FINANCIAL, THE MARKETING NAME FOR THRIVENT FINANCIAL FOR LUTHERANS, HAS BEEN IN THE LONG-TERM CARE INSURANCE BUSINESS SINCE 1987.
Like most people, you hope you'll never need extended or long-term care. But if that day comes, long-term care insurance can help you be ready. You'll protect your family – emotionally, physically and financially – and allow them to spend more time caring about you and less time caring for you.
With a long-term care strategy you can:
- Choose how and where you want your extended care provided.
- Determine the level of independence you want to maintain.
- Identify the role you want your family to play in your care.
- Determine how you want to fund your care, while protecting your assets.
How Long-Term Care Insurance Works
Long-term care insurance coverage takes effect when you need help with at least two activities of daily living because of an illness, physical condition or cognitive impairment that is expected to last at least 90 days. Creating a strategy now before you need it can give you and your family a sense of reassurance.
Start with the basics
Determine a pool of funds to cover future care needs, and the number of years you want to pay premiums. If you need care, a health care professional will develop a written plan of care. In addition, care coordination services are available to help you and your family identify services, locate caregivers and facilities, and monitor your plan of care.
Design your plan
Make your plan truly yours with optional riders, like periodic benefit increases, to help keep up with rising care costs and inflation. Take advantage of discounts, too. Your Thrivent Financial representative can help you put it all together.
File a claim
If the time comes when you need to use your benefits, start the claims process by calling us at 800-847-4836 and say "insurance" at the prompt.

All applications are subject to the underwriting requirements of Thrivent Financial. A medical exam may be required. Premiums are not guaranteed to remain unchanged, except during the first five contract years. Any changes to premium rates will apply to all similar contracts issued in your state to contract owners in the same class on the same contract form. This means you cannot be singled out for an increase because of advancing age, changes in your health, claim status or any other reason solely related to you. Long-term care insurance may not cover all of the costs associated with long-term care. You are advised to review your contract carefully. The contract has exclusions, limitations, reductions in benefits and terms under which the contract may be continued in force or discontinued. Contract provisions and maximum monthly benefits may vary by state. For costs and complete details of coverage, contact your Thrivent Financial representative.
