Stitched with Love: Pillowcases Made into Kids' Clothes [video]
March 18, 2016
Thrivent members sew dresses from pillowcases to send to children across the globe
Jeanette Alton of Waterloo, Iowa, knows that even something as simple as a pillowcase can be transformed into something valuable and needed.
For years she’s been buying pillowcases and transforming them into dresses and pants for kids living in poverty in other countries.
But she wanted to do more.
Transforming a simple DIY project into a meaningful act of generosity
Because she’s a member of Thrivent Financial, she was able to use a new program called a Thrivent Action Team. She used the seed money to purchase supplies.
When others learned about her efforts, the small sewing group she was a part of doubled in size.
So far, her team has made more than 350 dresses and recently began making shorts for boys.
Check out the short video about Alton’s project and see her Thrivent Action Team power its passion of generosity.
