MINNEAPOLIS – Thrivent, a Fortune 500 diversified financial services organization, announced that Mike DeKoning has joined the organization as senior vice president of Insurance Solutions.
In this leadership role, DeKoning will oversee Thrivent’s life, health and annuity product lines while helping the organization develop innovative insurance solutions focused on providing industry leading client advice and customer engagement. He will partner with Thrivent’s distribution, operations and IT teams to drive growth as the organization accelerates its transformation into a digital-first financial services organization with advice at the center of the customer experience.

Before joining Thrivent, DeKoning served as president of Allstate Benefits, a leading provider of voluntary employee benefits products in the U.S. He also previously served as president and CEO of Munich Re’s U.S. life insurance business, where he focused on driving growth through his experience with insurance products and offerings. Prior to that, DeKoning spent 20 years of his career at Manulife Financial.

DeKoning earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Toronto and is a fellow of both the Society of Actuaries and Canadian Institute of Actuaries. In addition to his professional experience, he has served in leadership roles with key industry organizations, including LIMRA and the American Council of Life Insurers. He also serves on the board for several nonprofits, including Make A Wish Georgia, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (both Georgia and North Central Florida) and Georgia State University’s Risk Management Foundation.
