Close AEP™ - Accredited Estate Planner
Designation granted by the National Association of Estate Planners and Councils to individuals who meet stringent experience and education qualifications. Qualifications include completion of two graduate level courses administered by The American College, Bryn Mawr, PA. An AEP professional must also be an attorney, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professional, ChFC® (Chartered Financial Consultant), CLU® (Chartered Life Underwriter), CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CTFA (Certified Trust and Financial Advisor).
Close CAP® - Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy
Designees complete coursework and an exam in the areas of charitable strategies, gift planning in a nonprofit context and planning for impact in the context of family wealth. Designees are actively involved in advising individuals and/or charitable organizations in areas including, but not limited to, wealth and estate planning, financial planning, charitable planning, planned giving and nonprofit or foundation management or services, or are employed in the nonprofit sector in a capacity related to nonprofit management, development, planned giving or fundraising.
Close CASL™ - Chartered Advisor for Senior Living
A rigorous course of study in retirement planning offered by The American College, Bryn Mawr, PA. The number of required courses varies based on other designations that have already been obtained. CASL professionals have the specific knowledge and experience to assist mature clients with health insurance, investments, and retirement and estate planning strategies.

The Certified College Planning Specialist (CCPS) designation is granted from the National Institute of Certified College Planners (NICCP). It focuses on the accumulation and distribution phases of college planning. The CCPS designation is recognized by both the CFP and CPA boards
Close CDFA® - Certified Divorce Financial Analyst
Designation granted by the Institute of Divorce Financial AnalaystsTM. Candidates must have a minimum of three years of experience as a financial professional, accountant, or matrimonial lawyer. To earn the designation, the participant must complete a series of self-study courses and pass an exam for each module. There are continuing education requirements for an individual to maintain this designation.

An international professional designation offered by the CFA Institute. This graduate-level, three-year program with examinations requires individuals to adhere to a strict code of ethics governing their professional conduct. The program focuses on portfolio management and financial analysis, and provides a general knowledge of other areas of finance.
Close CFP® - Certified Financial Planner
Designation granted by the CFP Board of Standards. Candidates must first have three years of financial planning experience and a bachelor's degree, or five years of financial planning experience before they can qualify. After completing a final certification exam, the CFP® certificant must follow up with 30 hours of continued education every two years. CFP® professionals take extensive coursework in financial strategies, tax strategies, employee benefits, retirement and estate strategies, investment management and insurance.

Designation granted by The American College. Candidates must complete coursework and an examination that focuses on the unique considerations, tax deductions, healthcare issues, Medicaid complexities, and the emotional aspects of providing for a disabled loved one. There are continuing education requirements for an individual to maintain this designation.

Designation granted by The American College, Bryn Mawr, PA. It is awarded to financial professionals who successfully complete specific education and work experience requirements, as well as pass a series of related exams. CLF professionals obtain the knowledge and tools for recruiting and retaining top performers, developing effective business plans, setting performance objectives, and improving managerial skills. The CLF is the only managerial leadership designation developed exclusively for financial services.

The "Certified in Long-Term Care" (CLTC) program is the long-term care insurance industry's only independent professional designation. Created in 1999, the program is focused on the field of long-term care planning and provides legal, accounting, insurance and financial service professionals the critical tools necessary to address the subject matter with their middle-age clients.

Designation granted by The American College, Bryn Mawr, PA, representing the pinnacle in insurance knowledge. Financial professionals with this credential specialize in life insurance and estate planning strategies.

Credential awarded by a State Accountancy Board to individuals who have met additional state education and experience requirements, and have passed the Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination. Candidates must first have a bachelor's degree from an accredited university and have experience in the industry. The primary functions CPAs fulfill relate to assurance services or public accounting. They must adhere to high ethical standards.

The CRPC® designation is granted by The College of Financial Planning. The designation is granted after completing coursework relating to retirement planning. There are continuing education requirements for an individual to maintain this designation.
Close FIC - Fraternal Insurance Counselor
The FIC is sponsored by the Fraternal Field Managers' Association (FFMA). It is awarded after successfully completing four courses regarding fraternal benefit societies, and the fundamentals of the life insurance business, ethics in the industry, and individual and family marketplaces, as well as the total needs program concept, and business insurance and estate planning marketplaces. FFMA also requires an individual to work for at least 12 consecutive months with a fraternal benefit society that is a member of the National Fraternal Congress of America (NFCA) and the FFMA.

An advanced designation offered by the Fraternal Field Managers' Association (FFMA). It requires completion of three additional education courses after a Fraternal Insurance Counselor (FIC) designation has been obtained. The FICF designation is granted only to those financial professionals who have shown the highest levels of dedication required to achieve knowledge in the more advanced areas of life underwriting.

Designation granted by the Life Office Management Association (LOMASM). It is received after the completion of a professional development program and a series of 10 examinations sponsored by LOMA. FLMI recipients have received a comprehensive business education in the context of the insurance and financial services industry.
Close FPC - Fraternal Professional Certification
Designation granted by the Fraternal Field Managers' Association (FFMA). There are four courses and four exams required to complete the designation.
Close FSA - Fellow of the Society of Actuaries
Designation issued by the Society of Actuaries. The FSA designation is obtained when an actuary completes a series of exams, and has previously completed the Associate of the Society of Actuaries requirements. A professional holding this designation understands more complicated matters involving pensions, insurance and investments, as well as the mathematical and technical requirements of being an actuary.

Designation granted by The American College. Candidates must complete courses and pass an examination focused on financial planning, Social Media, Healthcare Reform and Divorce Planning. Designation replaces LUTCF, discontinued as of 12/31/2013. There are continuing education requirements for an individual to maintain this designation.

A Juris Doctor or Juris Doctorate (JD) represents a doctorate level degree in law and is generally awarded after successfully completing three years of graduate study in the area of law. *JD is an educational degree, and the holder does not provide legal services on behalf of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans or its affiliates.
Close LUTCF - Life Underwriters Trainers Council Fellow
The American College and the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) jointly confer the LUTC Fellow designation. Candidates must complete six required courses and pass a final examination. The designation reflects a commitment to the NAIFA Code of Ethics and knowledge of insurance applications.
Close MBA - Master of Business Administration
Postgraduate degree awarded to students who have mastered the study of business. At many schools, a bachelor's degree is generally required for admission. Financial professionals who have earned their MBA have studied the theory and application of business and management principles. The MBA program equips individuals with knowledge that can be applied to a wide range of real-world business situations.
Close MPAS™ - Master Planner Advanced Studies
Designation granted by College for Financial Planning. Individuals who hold the MPAS(SM) designation have completed a Master of Science degree with a major in personal financial planning or financial analysis. There are continuing education requirements for an individual to maintain this designation.

Postgraduate degree awarded to students who have studied financial analysis, investment management and corporate finance. Programs usually require a bachelor's degree prior to admission.
Close MSFS - Master of Science in Financial Services
An advanced degree obtained after completing graduate-level university study. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required to be admitted into the program. The MFS degree requires completion of 36 course credits. Financial professionals who have earned this degree have reached the pinnacle of educational achievement in the financial services industry. They are able to provide comprehensive professional guidance on complex financial needs.

One-year graduate degree attained from a university, focusing on leadership in financial services organizations. Applicants are selected on the basis of academic and professional criteria, including a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Individuals who complete the program have a broader understanding of managerial leadership and a global perspective on today's highly competitive environment.
Close PhD - Doctor of Philosopy Degree
Philosophy doctorate degree usually based on at least three years of graduate study and a dissertation. In the United States, it is the highest academic degree awarded by universities in most fields of study. The Ph.D. designation is only displayed when a financial professional has obtained the degree in an industry-related field of study.
Close QKA™ - Qualified Kingdom Advisor
The Qualified Kingdom Advisor TM recognizes individuals who have demonstrated their technical competence as a financial professional, provided evidence of their personal integrity and have committed to providing financial guidance influenced by their biblical worldview. Qualified Kingdom Advisor TM designees also must agree to meet ongoing continuing education requirements and to uphold the Kingdom Advisors' Code of Ethics, Core Beliefs and personal requirements.

The RHU is issued by the American College, Bryn Mawr, PA, after completing three courses. RHU professionals are required to continue learning throughout their careers and are committed to maintaining ethical standards. Financial professionals earning the RHU have advanced knowledge of group insurance benefits and health insurance for individuals and families.
