What makes us different
When it comes to financial services providers, you have plenty of choices. While others see money as a goal, we see it as a tool – for serving God, your family and your community.
A unique financial organization
Thrivent is a unique kind of membership organization called a fraternal benefit society. By definition, a fraternal benefit society is a not-for-profit organization that provides insurance to its members and – this is key – has to carry out social, intellectual, educational, charitable, benevolent, moral, fraternal, patriotic or religious purposes for the benefit of its members and the public. So we don't simply sell insurance, and we don't simply do charitable work either. As a fraternal benefit society, we do both as we help Thrivent members on their wise with money journeys.
Our member commitment
As a membership organization, we have a responsibility to support and guide each other. Our member commitment statement clarifies our collective vision, beliefs and commitment to one another. We call it The Thrivent Way.
Our fraternal benefit society
As a fraternal benefit society, Thrivent is a membership organization of Christians, and members are owners.
We envision a world where Christians are more confident, content and living their God-given callings in service to one another, their churches and their communities.
We are all on a lifelong journey to be wise with money and live generously.
- All we have is a gift from God.
- We are called to be wise stewards of these gifts.
- Generosity is an expression of faith.
Our commitment to one another
We commit to help and guide one another along the way, plus invite others on the journey with us.
We will nurture relationships that encourage one another to live wise and generous lives; act with character and competence; and give mutual respect in the spirit of shared ownership.
Each of you should use whatever you have received to serve others as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms.
Content & Confident
Our research shows that how people feel about money is tied to their generosity, but those feelings aren't necessarily related to how much money they make. We'll listen to your wants and needs, and guide you on your own Wise With Money Journey to living a more generous and fulfilling life.
