Nikki Sorum leads regional field offices in Minnesota, as well as key support areas, including the Financial Consulting Group and Veteran Productivity, New FR Launch, Teaming, and the Advice Consulting Team (ACT). Nikki joined Thrivent Financial in 2002 as Vice President of New Business Ventures and the Financial Consulting Group. In 2003, she was promoted to Senior Vice President, Business Development, and in 2004, was promoted to Senior Vice President, Marketing and Investment Products. In that role she was responsible for oversight of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans’ asset management products, including mutual funds and variable sub accounts for both proprietary and nonproprietary products, as well as advice solutions and financial planning services for Thrivent Financial’s members. She also led local and regional marketing, marketing operations, and direct response marketing. Nikki assumed her current role in September 2006.
Prior to joining Thrivent Financial, Nikki served as Senior Vice President for RBC Dain Rauscher. In her seven years at RBC Dain, Sorum led strategic planning and corporate development, launched and revamped product lines resulting in larger market share, and guided the growth strategy for Correspondent Clearing Services. Before joining RBC Dain Rauscher, she spent eight years as a consultant and partner with McKinsey & Co., working with financial institutions to develop business strategies and restructure organizations.
Nikki is active in the community, serving on the boards of The Guthrie Theater, Lake Country School, and Greenspring, the parent company of Minnesota Monthly Publications and the MNN Radio Network. Nikki is a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, and is married with three children.
A native of Pelican Rapids, Minn., Nikki received a bachelor’s degree in economics—summa cum laude—from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis in 1983. In 1987, she earned a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
