Care in Congregations®: Support & Tools

Supporting your congregation and its ministry to the community is important to you. It’s a value you share with many members of your congregation. It’s also a value Thrivent Financial for Lutherans shares with you.

If you are interested in using the Care in Congregations program for a volunteer activity, there are many resources and tools available to answer your questions and help you plan, promote, conduct and report your activity.

Your main resource – Congregational Coordinators

You will want to contact a congregational coordinator to express an interest in using the Care in Congregations program.

If you do not know who the congregational coordinators are in your congregation, you can find the information online to www.thrivent.com, click Members/Chapters, click Information About My Chapter, and click View Leadership/Activities/Chapter Web Site.

Because this will match you to your assigned chapter and congregation, you need to log in (if it’s your first time logging in, you’ll need to complete a quick and easy one-time registration). You then will be able to see who your chapter leaders and congregational coordinators are, and their contact information.

The Fraternal Service Center at Thrivent Financial for Lutherans can help get you to the right person or answer questions you may have. You can contact a fraternal customer service advocate at 800-236-3736 or at fraternal@thrivent.com.

Your regional Lutheran Community Services Team also can help you get to the right person or answer your questions. This team is available locally to support our chapter leaders and congregational coordinators. To find the Manager of Lutheran Community Services in your region, go to www.thrivent.com, click Fraternal Programs, and click MLCS Locator.

Forms page—tools to promote and celebrate your activities

www.thrivent.com > Members/Chapters > Volunteer Resources > Forms

Tell others, and us, about your activities by using one or more of the following forms available to both congregational coordinators and service team volunteers on the Forms page online:

  • Care in Congregations Bulletin Insert (PDF, 88K): Use this prewritten and predesigned template to enter your activity information in just minutes; then print, copy and distribute. Remember to first ask permission from your congregation to use an insert for publicizing an activity.
  • Care in Congregations News Releases (one to announce your activity [Word, 31K] and one to use after your activity [Word, 30K]): Use these prewritten news releases to simply fill in your activity information; then print and send to your local media.
  • Volunteers in Action Information Release: Use this form to share your activity’s success and best practices with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. We want to hear about your activities and may use them in chapter communications.

Ask your congregational coordinators about various tools and resources, including a poster, they can print and/or order for use at your activity.

To help ensure a successful activity, you need to effectively promote it. The Visibility Toolkit provides “how-to” guidelines and tools to help service teams generate awareness of their activities.
