Service Teams

People are assigned to chapters by where they live, but can be engaged wherever they want. Service teams are the entry points for members to get involved in Thrivent Financial for Lutherans' chapter system. Within the chapter, members can organize service teams around their congregation, cause or community need. The service team concept allows members to volunteer on their own terms. It allows close-to-home, short-term commitments, one-time events that they know have a positive impact, flexibility and choice, and limited paperwork. Each service team is part of a chapter, and all service team activities are activities of the chapter. Service teams are formed and reformed based on needs and member interests. To be eligible for funding, a service team project must involve at least one Thrivent Financial member from a minimum of six member households. There are two types of service teams:   Congregational service teams that utilize the Care in Congregations® program.   Community service teams that utilize the Care Abounds in Communities® program.
