The financial representative advisor is an appointed advisory position without
board voting rights. The person in this role provides advice to the administrative
functions of the leadership board. The person is part of a board that provides
direction, planning and support to service teams. A financial representative advisor may serve in this role for more than one chapter.
What will the financial representative advisor do?
The primary responsibilities are to serve as the voice of the regional financial
office (RFO) and the Manager of Lutheran Community Services (MLCS), and to offer advice and counsel as needed. The financial representative advisor will:
- Serve as an advocate for the chapter system.
- Identify and recruit leaders for chapter leadership roles and congregational and community service teams.
- Assist the leadership board in identifying needs that
can be met through service teams.
- Support congregational and community service teams as needed.
- Make check presentations to individuals, groups or institutions.
How much time will this position require each month?
About two to six hours a month. This position is appointed for a one-year
term by the leadership board. This appointment will be reviewed
each year. There are no term limits imposed on this advisory position

The Manager of Lutheran Community Services (MLCS) and the supporting staff at
the regional financial office (RFO) will provide direction, guidance and training
for this position. There will be regular contact, in person, by phone
and/or by e-mail. An orientation will be provided, together with regular
communication.
What knowledge, skills, qualities will the person need to fulfill
the role?
- Serving as a current financial representative.
- Commitment to the mission and vision of Thrivent Financial and the chapter leadership board.
- Desire to engage members in meaningful volunteer activities.
- Ability to attract and retain new Thrivent Financial members.
- Good communication skills.

Internet advisor(appointed, advisory)

The internet advisor is an appointed advisory position, without board voting
rights. The person maintains the chapter Web site, which is available through Lutherans Online
(www.lutheransonline.com).
What will the internet advisor do?
Responsibilities are to provide expertise on matters that can be utilized online via the chapter Web site, such as communications, public relations, etc. The internet advisor will:
- Develop and maintain the chapter Web site.
- Act as chapter Web site liaison with the Operations Center.
- Act as a resource person for leadership boards and service
teams for chapter Web site applications.
- Work closely with communications director to provide online communications.
How much time will this position require each month?
About six to eight hours a month. This position is appointed for a one-year
term by the leadership board. This appointment will be reviewed
each year. There are no term limits imposed on this advisory position.
How will Thrivent Financial support this position?
The Manager of Lutheran Community Services (MLCS) and the other paid staff at the regional
financial office (RFO) will provide direction, guidance and training to this position.
There will be regular contact, in person, by phone and/or by e-mail. An orientation
will be provided, together with regular communication.

- Experience with the Internet including developing and maintaining Web sites.
- Desire to engage members in meaningful volunteer activities.

- Good organizational skills.
- Good communication skills.

The past president advisor is an appointed advisory position without board voting rights. This person provides advice to the chapter leadership board.
The person also fills an honorary role as a part of a board by providing
strategic direction, leadership planning and administrative support to
service teams. Ideally, only one past president would be appointed to the leadership board at a time.
What will the past president do?
The primary responsibilities are to serve as the voice of experience and
offer advice and counsel to the leadership board as needed. The past president advisor will:
- Identify and recruit leaders for congregational and community service
teams.
- Assist in identifying and recruiting chapter leadership board members.
- Assist the leadership board in identifying needs that can be met through service teams.
- Promote Thrivent's chapter structure in the community.
How much time will this position require each month?
About two to four hours a month. The person in this position is appointed
for a one-year term by the leadership board. The appointment
is to be reviewed each year. There are no term limits imposed on this
advisory position.
How will Thrivent Financial support this position?
The Manager of Lutheran Community Services (MLCS) and the supporting staff at the regional financial office (RFO) will support this honorary position. There will be regular
contact, in person, by phone and/or by e-mail. There will be regular communication
with this position on an as-needed basis.
What knowledge, skills, qualities will the person need to fulfill the role?
- Commitment to the mission and vision of Thrivent Financial and the leadership board.
- Past experience as a chapter president.
- Desire to engage members in meaningful volunteer activities.
- Ability to attract and retain new members.
- Ability to advocate and support change.
- Good communication and representation skills.

Program advisor (appointed, advisory)

The program advisor is an appointed advisory position without board voting
rights. The person in this position helps increase member engagement by staying current with Thrivent Financial programs that support the chapter leadership board
and service teams (e.g., Thrivent Financial Care programs).
What will the program advisor do?
Responsibilities are to remain informed about current information on all Thrivent
Financial fraternal programs. The person provides the leadership board with
updates and implementation suggestions for service teams. The program advisor will:
- Work with the communications director to keep audiences informed about
Thrivent Financial programs.
- Advise and support volunteers as they plan and carry out fund-raisers
or service projects.
- Keep tabs on programs available to service teams.
- Provide the Operations Center and communications director with evaluation
information and feedback relating to programs.
How much time will this position require each month?
About four to six hours a month. This position is appointed for a one-year
term by the leadership board. This appointment will be reviewed each year. There
are no term limits imposed on this advisory position.
