Membership eligibility — Thrivent Financial

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans has benefit members, associate members and youth members:

A benefit member:

  • Is at least age 16.
  • Has been accepted for membership in accordance with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans’ membership eligibility rules and is an applicant member on a Thrivent Financial for Lutherans insurance or annuity product or received a settlement agreement from such insurance.
  • May vote for eligible candidates to serve on the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Board of Directors.
  • May vote on amendments to change Thrivent Financial for Lutherans’ Articles of Incorporation.
  • May serve on the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Board of Directors.
  • May participate in chapter meetings and express views on chapter activities to the chapter leadeship board.
  • May vote for chapter leaders.
  • May be a chapter leader.
  • May be a congregational coordinator.
  • May be a community service team contact person.
  • May participate in Thrivent Financial for Lutherans’ congregational and community service team activities.
  • Is eligible for Thrivent Financial for Lutherans’ member benefits, such as educational and informational materials as well as discounted products and services. Members who own Thrivent Financial products may order one copy of each benefit each year.
  • Is eligible for financial support programs, such as Legacy Support for Children, Newborn Death Benefit and the Child Insurability Benefit.
An associate member:
  • Is at least age 16.
  • Has been accepted for membership in accordance with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans’ membership eligibility rules and has been issued a certificate of membership. Generally, associate members have not purchased an insurance or annuity product from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. Associate members usually own Thrivent Financial for Lutherans’ mutual funds or other products sold through a subsidiary of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, or join Thrivent Financial for Lutherans through the family associate membership program.
  • May participate in chapter meetings and express views on chapter activities to the chapter leadership board.
  • May vote for chapter leaders.
  • May be a chapter leader.
  • May be a congregational coordinator.
  • May be a community service team contact person.
  • May participate in Thrivent Financial for Lutherans’ congregational and community service team activities.
  • Is not eligible to vote for candidates to serve on the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Board of Directors.
  • Is not eligible to vote on amendments to change Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Articles of Incorporation.
  • Is not eligible to serve on the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Board of Directors.
  • Is eligible for Thrivent Financial for Lutherans’ member benefits, such as educational and informational materials as well as discounted products and services. Family associate members who pay a $10 membership fee are limited to two benefits per calendar year.
  • Is not eligible for financial support programs such as Legacy Support for Children, Newborn Death Benefit and the Child Insurability Benefit.
A youth member:
  • Is younger than age 16.
  • Has been accepted for membership in accordance with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans’ membership eligibility rules and has been issued a certificate of membership or a certificate of membership and insurance.
  • May participate in Thrivent Financial for Lutherans’ chapter congregational and community service team activities.
  • May not be a chapter leader or congregational coordinator.
  • May not vote on chapter business.
  • Is not eligible to vote for candidates to serve on the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Board of Directors.
  • Is not eligible to vote on amendments to change Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Articles of Incorporation.
  • Is not eligible to serve on the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Board of Directors.
  • Is eligible for Thrivent Financial for Lutherans’ member benefits, such as educational and informational materials as well as discounted products and services.
