Chapters may host fund-raisers to help students attend youth gatherings, Bible camps, seminaries, etc. Funds raised can be supplemented through the Care Abounds in Communities® program. In these instances, there must not be any implied future financial commitment or a competitive element to the funds provided (e.g., like a scholarship program).
To avoid any potential misunderstanding or confusion on the part of the recipient, chapters should not refer to the funding as a scholarship. It is recommended that chapters use the word "educational" in the title of these grants, gifts or awards (e.g., educational campership).
It is not acceptable for chapters to start their own scholarship programs. There are many legal requirements and tax issues involved with scholarship programs, and the appropriate controls are required.
