Removing
& replacing volunteer leaders
In situations that may warrant the removal of an elected chapter leader, chapter advisor or congregational coordinator, the chapter leadership board should follow these guidelines:
Removing/replacing elected chapter leaders
When a situation arises where a chapter leadership board needs to remove/replace an elected chapter leader, the board must contact its local Lutheran Community Services (LCS) Team* to discuss the situation. The LCS Team will help evaluate the chapter’s options and help determine a plan of action.
Removing/replacing chapter advisors and congregational coordinators
Because chapter advisors and congregational coordinators are appointed by the chapter leadership board, the leadership board has the authority to vote on removing and appointing a new advisor or congregational coordinator, if it’s in the best interest of the chapter or congregation to do so.
Prior to removing/replacing an advisor or congregational coordinator, the chapter leadership board is encouraged to contact the chapter’s Lutheran Community Services (LCS) Team* and ask for its counsel on the situation. The LCS Team may have ideas that could help the situation or provide names of people that your chapter might consider as a replacement.
* If a chapter is unable to reach an LCS Team staff member or doesn't know how to reach the LCS Team, it may contact the Fraternal Service Center at 1-800-236-3736 or fraternal@thrivent.com.
