Congregational coordinators — assignments/changes

As governed by Section VIII of the Thrivent Financial Constitution for Chapters, the chapter leadership board, as a whole, is responsible for approving any appointment or removal of congregational coordinators.

It also is a good idea for the chapter leadership board to approve the existing congregational coordinators at the beginning of each year. (If all three congregational coordinators continue to the next year, no changes to the system are required at the beginning of the new year.)

Appointment (filling a vacancy)
Before a person is approved by the chapter leadership board for a congregational coordinator position, the chapter leadership board should make sure the person meets the eligibility requirements of a congregational coordinator.

Note: Because much of the work with the new chapter system can be done online, it is recommended that at least one of the three congregational coordinators has access to and uses e-mail and/or the Internet.

After approval is granted, a chapter leader should add the congregational coordinator information for that congregation:

  1. Access the Chapter Leadership Administration page in the For Chapter Leaders section of Members/Chapters.
  2. Click Manage Congregational Volunteers.
  3. Select the appropriate congregation.
  4. Click Add Volunteer.
  5. Enter the appropriate nine-digit Thrivent ID (customer ID) and click Check Membership.
  6. If the person shown is correct, click Continue.
  7. Select the position, and enter the term begin date and member's e-mail, if available.
  8. Click Save or Save and Add Another.

After the information is added into the system, a welcome letter will be mailed to the new congregational coordinator.

Note: A chapter leader cannot add a new congregational coordinator to the system until the previous congregational coordinator is removed from the system. (See "Removal" below.)

Removal/termination
If a congregational coordinator resigns or needs to be removed (e.g., membership terminates, conduct issues, etc.), a chapter leader can use the "Manage Congregational Volunteers" link in the Chapter Leadership Administration page of the For Chapter Leaders section to remove the congregational coordinator from the system. A congregational coordinator also may directly notify the Fraternal Service Center that he or she wishes to resign from the position.

The chapter leadership board then is responsible for finding a member to fill the vacated position.
