Leadership
board: voting rights
Approval for funding of proposed chapter activities and other chapter-related
matters is the responsibility of the elected chapter leadership board members.
Advisory board members and chapter members do not have voting rights for these chapter-related matters. (Note:
A non-elected member who is appointed to a vacated elected position during the
year has voting rights.)
All elected chapter leaders on the leadership board have equal voting rights (one
vote per person) regardless of their position on the leadership board. A vote
passes only if more than half of the elected leaders at a valid chapter meeting
vote in the affirmative. (Remember, a meeting is valid only if a quorum, or
simple majority, of all elected leaders are present.) In case of a tie, the
vote is defeated and does not pass.
Requests by chapter members for leadership board approval of proposed chapter
activities or funding may be voted on by the chapter leadership board without
a meeting if the president, or any two elected leadership board members, determine
that approval of the activity is needed before the next scheduled chapter meeting.
In these situations, a simple majority of all of the elected leadership board
members must approve the request, and these approvals must be reported at the
next chapter meeting and documented in the minutes.
Note: All chapter members who are Thrivent Financial benefit or associate
members may vote for the chapter leadership board members.
