Chapter mission statement
Creating a chapter mission statement
Many chapter leadership boards have found it very effective to establish a common mission for their chapter. A mission is simply a formal document or statement that sets forth the objectives of the chapter. It can help explain to others what your chapter does, and it can help determine your chapter's focus and guide your Care programs funding decisions.
Some actual examples of chapter mission statements:
- To reach out to community needs through membership volunteerism.
- To promote and facilitate charitable activities involving Lutheran congregations and Thrivent Financial members with local volunteers to meet local needs.
- To promote and support Thrivent Financial for Lutherans volunteers, making a meaningful difference in the lives of people.
Once your mission statement is established, you may wish to review it as a team at the beginning of each year to make sure it continues to represent your chapter leadership board's thinking.
To get started writing a chapter mission statement, it may be helpful to look at Thrivent Financial’s Constitution for Chapters and Mission/Vision. Then discuss with your leadership board how you'd like to summarize your chapter's position in a mission statement.
When you have your mission statement, you can let it be known by highlighting it on your chapter Web site, printing it on your chapter mailings, and many other methods of communication.
