Chapter
elections: leadership
board responsibilities
The chapter leadership board is
responsible for managing the election process for next year's chapter leadership
board. This includes:
- Appointing a Nominating
Committee for the chapter leader election and administering the nomination
process. This is a responsibility of the vice president or delegate.
- Informing members about the elections. This is a responsibility of the
president or delegate.
- Forming an election team to plan and conduct elections. This is a responsibility
of the president or delegate.
Election expenses
Dollars have been included in chapter operating
funds to cover election expenses, and chapter leadership boards are expected
to budget to cover election expenses.
Get Thrivent Financial representatives involved
Chapter leadership boards should leverage their financial associate advisors
if this position is filled. If it is not filled, chapter leadership boards
should check with their manager
of Lutheran community services (MLCS) to check if there are Thrivent Financial
representatives willing to be involved in the chapter election.
Promote Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Board of Directors election
The national board of direction election is held via direct mail. (See details.)
Because
benefit members directly elect our governing body, chapters should be diligent in encouraging benefit members to exercise their voting privilege. We ask that chapter leaders use every opportunity available to remind benefit members to submit their ballots during the election period. Whenever you have contact with memberswhether at church, chapter leader elections, chapter meetings or any other chapter event before Dec. 10we ask that you actively promote the national board of directors election.
The Election Invitation newsletter automatically includes a paragraph encouraging benefit members to vote. In addition, you can promote the national election via your chapter Web site. A Common Article is available on the Chapter Mailing Service that you can copy and paste onto your chapter Web site or into a regular chapter newsletter.
Please be sure to vote yourself if you are a benefit member. Your voice and that of every member is important. We are looking forward to good member participation in this year's election.
If you or any benefit members have questions regarding the election, please contact Cindy Nigbur at 800-847-4836, ext. 38322 or cindy.nigbur@thrivent.com.
Get specific regional guidelines from your LCS Team
Chapter leadership boards should check with their Lutheran Community Services
(LCS) Team to check if there are any specific election guidelines the team
would like your chapter to follow.
