Home Sweet Home — A Welcome note from Thrivent Financial

Bruce Nicholson Photo by Lee ProhofskyI'm one of thousands of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans members across the country who have volunteered on a Habitat for Humanity project. Whether installing insulation or passing out sandwiches, we've each felt that special bond of volunteer service--the sense of purpose that comes with helping a family in such a tangible way.

As a Thrivent Financial member, you support our organization's mission of service. It's a philosophy that sets us apart--and makes our new alliance with Habitat such a natural fit. Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity marks our commitment to build thousands of houses throughout the United States over the next four years and thousands more around the globe. We are becoming Habitat for Humanity's largest ally in eliminating substandard housing by providing volunteers and financial contributions.

With this issue of Thrivent magazine, we invite you to dedicate your time, talents and treasures to this extraordinary effort. A special insert between pages 16 and 17 provides an opportunity for a monetary donation. Side-by-side with the partner families who contribute hundreds of hours of "sweat equity" to their Habitat homes, you will not only raise rooftops, but also raise hope. And hope is a wonderful thing to come home to.

Bruce J. Nicholson
