Portfolio Management

Investment Management Style

Style Box

(Chart Guide)

Investment Objective
  • Seeks total returns that track the performance of the S&P MidCap 400 Index by investing primarily in common stocks in the Index.
Investment Strategy
  • Strives to invest in most or all of the mid-company common stocks that comprise the S&P MidCap 400 Index in the proportions in which they are represented in the Index, using a passive approach to managing the portfolios’ holdings.
  • Attempts to replicate the changes that may occur in the Index, though such changes may result in slight variations from time to time.
Benefits of Investing in the Thrivent Mid Cap Index Portfolio
  • Adds increased diversification to your overall portfolio, helping you reduce investment risk and increase return potential.
  • Approximates the performance of a broadly diversified index of stocks of medium-sized U.S. companies.
  • Lower advisory fees, operating expenses and transaction costs than actively managed mid-cap portfolios, adding increased return potential to your overall portfolio.
Special Investment Risks
  • Mid-cap stocks offer the potential for long-term gains but can be subject to short-term price movements. Mid-sized company stock prices are generally more volatile than large company stock prices. While the Portfolio attempts to closely track the S&P MidCap 400 Index, it does not duplicate the composition of the index. Individuals may not invest directly in any index. Index portfolios are subject to the same market risks associated with the stocks in their respective indexes. These and other risks are described in the prospectus.
Investment Minimums
  • All initial and subsequent investment minimums exist at the contract level. Most subaccounts carry no investment minimums. A minimum of $1,000 is required if you choose to use the DCA (Dollar Cost Averaging) Fixed Account to fund periodic investments to other subaccounts. See the Prospectus for additional information.
