Peter Jones
Lincoln, NE
Lancaster County Chapter # 30242

As one of the largest chapters in the chapter system, there’s much going on in the Lancaster County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, and that keeps chapter events director, Peter Jones, busy. For his leadership with chapter activities at the University of Nebraska Lutheran Student Center, Peter received his chapter’s Youth Volunteer of the Year award in 2005.

Peter is a leader in the ministry for students at the University of Nebraska, where the Lutheran fraternity, Beta Sigma Psi, is rebuilding on campus. Peter’s involvement has been crucial to that project and, needless to say, he and other fraternity members are very involved in community service. Peter was also very involved in the mission service trips taken by the students from the Student Center.

In addition, when the pastor at the Center passed away, Peter stepped in to help out and continue various projects. He made a valuable contribution by linking activities at the Student Center with alumni and parents of students. In the absence of a pastor, Peter’s role was crucial, and the Center and community are better for his willingness to get involved.
