Nancy Wagner
Golden Valley, MN
Northwest Minneapolis Chapter
In her role as community service team director for the Northwest Minneapolis Chapter, Nancy contacted all service team leaders for nearly 100 activities supported by the chapter in 2004. As an advocate for Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, she has made dozens of presentations about its chapters Care programs.
Last year, she assisted with several Care in Regions® projects, including volunteer recruitment, trainings and promotions. This resulted in the active support of 22 chapters and multiple congregations in Minnesota Foodshare, Lutheran Night at the Twins events, and Feed My Starving Children (FMSC). FMSC is a Christian nonprofit organization that packages highly nutritious casseroles for distribution to the world’s hungriest children. Nancy is very active in this group, and has served on its Annual Gala Fundraiser Committee. In 2004, more than 18,000 youth and 7,000 adult volunteers helped package food, producing over 5 million meals. Through Nancy’s involvement, 10 chapters supported FMSC last year with supplemental funds or hands-on service funding. She is also Web site manager, fundraiser, publicist, advocate for the Speakers Bureau, and coordinates the annual confirmation group project of 300 youth.
Nancy is a long-time member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Golden Valley, where her energy, enthusiasm and Christian response to service is an inspiration to many. She has been involved in a variety of volunteer efforts there, including Confirmation small group leader and mentor, Church Council member, Women’s Bible Study leader, the Outreach Committee, and the Women’s Leadership Team. She also personally coordinated FMSC participation by the Calvary Lutheran Church confirmation service team of 300 youth, parents, and church members.
