To Jenni Eickelberg, helping others is much more than an occasional
event. It is an integral part of a life already filled with a strong
work ethic and an overload of classes toward her master’s
degree.
“Volunteering is such a big part of my life,” Jenni
said. “I always find time to do it, even when I am busy with
school and a full-time job.”
Much of Jenni’s volunteer service involves youth. An example
is her work as a mentor to a 12-year-old girl through PALS of Outagamie
County. “She really looks forward to seeing me and treats
me as a member of her family,” Jenni said. “It is a
joy to do things with her and I know I am making a difference in
her life.”
That same personal satisfaction is felt through her work with the
Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin, helping to grant wishes of
children with life-threatening medical conditions. Last year, Jenni
was certified as a “wish granter” and helped deliver
a wish to a 6-year-old boy. She also helped with fund-raising activities
throughout the year.
Whether helping to raise money for the March of Dimes, tutoring
a middle-school child, or serving meals to the homeless at the Emergency
Shelter of the Fox Valley, Jenni’s heart and mind find powerful
ways to touch people’s lives.
Caring for animals is one of Jenni’s great passions. She
worked at an animal hospital for five years. “When I left
that company I felt a void,” she said. “So I combined
my love for volunteering with animals and came up with (helping)
the Fox Valley Humane Association.”
She assists the organization on two fronts. First, she helps raise
funds, including coordination of the annual Bark in the Park event
on the Thrivent Financial campus. Second, she volunteers at the
shelter, helping prospective adopters find the right animal to enrich
their lives.
Many times, many ways, many places, Jenni continues to exemplify
the fraternal mission and values of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
From fostering a rescue dog, to delivering flowers to shut-ins,
to helping to build a Habitat for Humanity house and more, volunteering
always finds a place in Jenni’s life.
“I like to help out various organizations whenever I can,
even if it’s a one-time event,” she said.
