Steve Peterson, a Thrivent Financial for Lutherans senior business analyst in the Fraternal Planning & Support Services area, is a big believer in the idea that small contributions can add up to significant differences to others. And Thrivent Financial provides him with many opportunities to provide those contributions.
As the leader of Thrivent Financial’s participation in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation walk-a-thon, Steve hopes small steps add up to great strides for diabetes research. “I’m blessed to have two healthy children,” says Steve. “I hope someday that we can help ensure that diabetes no longer prevents kids from being kids.”
Through his participation in the STAR Committee — a Thrivent Financial employee volunteer committee — Steve hopes to expose other employees to the joys of volunteering. “This committee is what really got me hooked on volunteering and allowed me to see Thrivent’s mission firsthand. Working on this committee allows me to see the many generous employees that make Thrivent Financial so special.”
Steve has donated his time and talents to many Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity projects, including a trip to Anchorage, Alaska, and is grateful for the experience. “It helps families get a foundation for life and it has given me experiences I will never forget. I will forever be an advocate for this program.”
Within the community, Steve is a regular volunteer for Harbor House; a domestic-violence prevention and awareness organization. He also participates in several Big Brothers Big Sisters events, food drives and United Way fund-raising events.
Proving again that small contributions can go a long way, Steve helps collect soda pop can tabs at Thrivent Financial for donation to the Ronald McDonald house. “A small pop tab doesn’t seem like much, but when you put that effort together with 1,500 others, it turns into about $2,000 for a fantastic organization. Every little bit helps!” |
