Corporate Community Grants

The Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Foundation Corporate Community Grant Program provides financial support to nonprofit agencies in the Fox Cities of Wisconsin and the Twin Cities of Minnesota that address the changing needs of our communities, with a particular focus on economic self-sufficiency.

Economic Self-Sufficiency
We believe that all members of Thrivent Financial’s communities should have:

  • A safe and stable place to live.
  • The knowledge to make informed financial decisions.
  • A successful early start in life.

All are critical factors in creating a bridge to economic independence. In particular, we support programs and organizations that promote:

  • Ending Homelessness
“Homelessness” is not merely the lack of shelter. It is caused by a variety of underlying, unmet needs—physical, economic and social. We support solutions that provide:
    • Affordable long-term housing for those of low and moderate incomes, aimed at self-sufficiency.
    • Transitional housing and related holistic/supportive services for homeless and precariously housed individuals and families, aimed at self-sufficiency.
    • Work readiness and job supports.

  • Financial Wellness
Becoming knowledgeable financial consumers and savers is a cornerstone to economic well-being. We support organizations and programs that provide:
    • Personal financial education to encourage home ownership, informed investing and educated financial choices.
    • Youth education that teaches responsible money management skills during the K-12 years.
    • The working poor with affordable financial services as an alternative to predatory financial programs.

  • Early Childhood Education
It is critical that children entering school arrive with basic skills and be prepared to learn and thrive in the classroom. This increases the likelihood of longer-term academic success and, ultimately a more productive workforce. We support:
    • Early childhood education organizations and programs that adequately prepare preschoolers for kindergarten.
    • Organizations that ensure affordable, quality childcare is available to all, particularly the working poor.
    • Programs that equip parents with information on school readiness and early childhood development techniques.
Exclusions
The Corporate Community Grant Program will not provide support for:
  • Individuals
  • Loans or investments
  • National or international organizations
  • Churches or church organizations for expenses normally regarded as church responsibility
  • Duplicate services provided by other agencies
  • Religious causes
  • Political causes
  • Endowments

How to apply for a Corporate Community Grant

Employee Advised Granting

Employee Giving Campaign Matching Grants
The Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Foundation matches Thrivent Financial for Lutherans employee donations pledged to the United Way and the Lutheran Community Foundation during the annual employee giving campaign.

Employee Gift-Matching
The Employee Gift-Matching Program encourages personal philanthropy by matching, dollar for dollar, contributions of employees, field members, retirees and board members to nonprofit organizations that improve the quality of life in communities where employees live and work. By leveraging matching gifts from the Thrivent Financial Foundation to support charitable causes, employees can help the foundation carry out its charitable mission and provide more assistance where it is most needed.
