(Chart Guide)

Investment Objective
  • Strives for investment results similar to the total return of the Lehman Aggregate Bond Index by investing primarily in bonds and other debt securities included in the Index.
Investment Strategy
  • Invests primarily in a representative sample of the fixed-income securities that comprise the Lehman Aggregate Bond Index, including U.S. Treasury and government agency securities, mortgage-related securities, corporate bonds, and asset-backed and commercial mortgage-backed securities.
  • Allocates approximately one-third of Portfolio assets to mortgage-related securities, and also invests in larger issues that are of investment-grade quality with a maturity of more than one year.
Benefits of Investing in the Thrivent Bond Index Portfolio
  • Nearly 70% of assets invested in US Treasury and government agency securities (very high quality), and no exposure to the more volatile high-yield sector or convertible securities.
  • Exposure to major components of the fixed-income market.
  • Approximates the performance of the Lehman Aggregate Bond Index.
Special Investment Risks
  • The Portfolio is subject to interest rate risk, prepayment and extension risk which may result in overall price fluctuations over short or even extended time periods. While the fund attempts to closely track the Lehman Aggregate Bond Index, it does not duplicate the composition of the index. Individuals may not invest directly in any index. Index portfolios are subject to the same market risks associated with the stocks in their respective indexes. These and other risks are described in the prospectus.
  • Investing in a variable annuity contract involves risks, including the possible loss of principal. The prospectus contains more complete information on the investment objectives, risks, charges and expenses of the variable annuity contract and underlying investment options which investors should read and consider carefully before investing.
