About LOMA's Glossary of Insurance and Financial Services Terms
LOMA’s Glossary helps to explain the jargon
of life insurance, health insurance, and employee
benefits. This glossary is intended for the novice
and the veteran alike. If you have a question about
an insurance term, LOMA’s Glossary can
probably answer it.
With this edition, besides updating many of the
terms in the earlier editions, we have expanded LOMA’s
Glossary by more than 200 terms. The glossary
now defines terms from practically all the major
areas of business in which life and health
insurers operate. The new terms were drawn
primarily from the areas of insurance accounting,
finance, and managed health care. LOMA’s
Glossary now lists and defines more than 1,600
terms that are used in the life and health
insurance industry.
We’re always looking for new terms and better
definitions that will make LOMA’s Glossary
a better and more complete reference for the
industry. If you come across a term that is not
defined in the glossary, or if you find a
definition in the glossary that you think can be
improved, please let us know. Send your comments
