Thrivent Financial for Lutherans makes it convenient for you to take advantage of the valuable information, tools and resources available to you on our Web sites! Through a single user ID and password, you can access secure information and/or conduct transactions on multiple areas of thrivent.com and lutheransonline.com.
Q. What areas of the Thrivent Financial Web sites can I access through registration and login?
A. The same user ID and password will provide you access to the following secure areas:
- Account Access:
- Insurance & Annuity Account Values: Access contract/account values or request service for your Thrivent Financial insurance and annuity contracts.
- Mutual Funds: View number of shares owned, account values, dividend histories, recent transactions, fund share prices, and perform certain transactions.
- Members/Chapters: A site for Thrivent Financial members to order benefits, access chapter/congregational coordinator administration and resources, and chat with other members.
- Lutherans Online: A fun, online Christian-based community. Connect with other Lutherans, build a free Web site, send Christian e-cards, research your Lutheran roots, post classified ads, find friendship in Singles Seeking, exchange recipes and more.
Q. What areas of the Thrivent Financial Web sites require a separate login process?
A. Because system differences and different regulating bodies require different login processes, you will need to complete a separate registration process to access the following secure areas:
- Thrivent Financial Bank.
- Brokerage Services (Discount Brokerage and Financial Consulting Group).
Q. What information will I need when registering?
A. If you are registering for access to Insurance & Annuity Account Values, Mutual Funds or Members/Chapters, you will need:
- Thrivent ID OR Tax ID,
- Contract number OR birthdate,
and
- A valid e-mail address. Your access code will be sent to that e-mail account.
If you are registering for Members/Chapters or Lutherans Online, you will need:
- Current user name and password,
- Birthdate,
and
- A valid e-mail address. Your access code will be sent to that e-mail account.
Q. Who can register?
A. Anyone age 13 and older can register on the Thrivent Financial Web sites. However, your access to secure areas may be limited based on your relationship with Thrivent Financial.
Q. I registered, why didn't I receive an initial access code?
A.
- A spam filter may not have accepted the e-mail sent from membersonly@thrivent.com or placed the e-mail into a folder other than the inbox. These folder are often called "spam," "bulk," "trash," "junk," or "suspect." Check folders with those names or similar names to see if the initial access code e-mail was delivered to one of them. Make sure your e-mail account will accept this address. If not, add this e-mail address (membersonly@thrivent.com) to your list of allowed senders. (AOL users: add to address book and/or "People I Know" list. Earthlink users: add to address book and/or whitelist.) Follow instructions below to have the code resent.
- The e-mail address provided during registration may have been entered incorrectly. If even one character in the e-mail address is missing or incorrect, the e-mail will not arrive. To verify and update your e-mail address, please contact us at 800-THRIVENT (800-847-4836), select option 1 for customer service, and option 2 for Internet questions.
- Your e-mail inbox may be full. This is particularly the case for people with Hotmail accounts. Please clean out your e-mail inbox to allow incoming mail, then follow the instructions below to have the code resent.
- The delivery time for the initial access code can vary depending on your e-mail provider. It can range from immediate to several hours. Please be patient.
- Your e-mail account may no longer be active. If you have not recently accessed your e-mail account to create, send or view e-mail, your account may have been disabled or suspended by your e-mail provider. You will need to set up another e-mail account with an e-mail provider and follow instructions below to have the code resent.
- To have the initial access code resent, please contact us at 800-THRIVENT (800-847-4836), select 1 for customer service and option 2 for Internet question.
Q. What if someone learns my user ID and password?
A. Your user ID and password are kept confidential. Your secure access will be disabled after five unsuccessful attempts to log in. If your access is disabled, call Customer Service at 800-THRIVENT (800-847-4836) for assistance.
Q. What if I have questions about my user ID and password or PIN?
A.If you have questions, call the appropriate number below.
- Insurance, annuity or mutual fund account access: Call 800-THRIVENT (800-847-4836). Select option 1 for customer service, then option 2 to update personal information.
- Chapter online reporting system: Call the Fraternal Customer Service Center at 800-236-3736.
- Lutherans Online features: Call 866-201-1522.
- Telephone banking PIN or your online banking PIN: Call Thrivent Financial Bank customer service at 866-226-5225.
- Trust account PIN: Call Trust and Investment Services at 877-225-8345.
Q. Do I need to enter my user ID and password every time I log in?
A. Yes. For security reasons you need to type in your user ID and password every time you log in to a secure access area. However, once you have logged in to a secure area, you can access other secure areas for which you are authorized without repeating the login.
Cookies technology is not available with this login process.
Cookies are messages given to your Web browser by a Web server. The browser stores the message (e.g., user ID and password) on your computer in a text file called cookie.txt. The message is then sent back to the server each time your browser requests that site.
Q. What do I do if I forget my user ID?
A. If you forget your user ID, click on the Forgot User ID link on the login page. Type in your e-mail address and birth date, and your user ID will be e-mailed to you. Note: In order to use this feature, you must keep your profile up to date with your current e-mail address.
Q. What do I do if I forget my password?
A. If you forget your password, you’ll need to create a new password. Click on the Forgot Password link on the login page. Answer your security questions, then type and confirm your new password. Note: Your password will not be sent to you via e-mail.
Q. Can I change my user ID?
A. No. Your user ID cannot be changed.
Q. Can I change my password?
A. Yes. You can change your password at any time. Go to your profile, click on Password and complete the online instructions. Remember to follow the rules for creating passwords.
Q. Can I change my profile information?
A. You can easily update the information in your profile at any time including: password, verification questions, access areas, personal information, e-mail address, e-newsletter receipt status, and your Lutherans Online Web site status.
Q. Can I have more than one profile on my registration?
A. For security reasons, each user requesting access to secured areas on the Thrivent Financial Web sites must register individually.
Q. Can I change my status for receiving the Thrivent Financial e-newsletter?
A. You can change your status at any time by updating your profile. Go to your profile and click on Access Areas. To receive the e-newsletter, be sure the Send Me Updates box is checked. To be removed from the e-mailing list, be sure the Send Me Updates box is not checked.
Q. Can I bookmark my insurance, annuity or mutual fund accounts?
A. For security reasons, you cannot bookmark your account pages or add them to your favorites. You can, however, bookmark the account access login page. You'll need to log in to thrivent.com to view your account information.
Q. Why do some of the pages on your Web site look funny?
A.
While visiting the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Web site, if the appearance of some pages seems "funny," in many cases this is caused by the software, or browser, used to view Web pages.
Many of Thrivent Financial's graphics are best viewed with a monitor setting greater than 256 colors. To be certain that all elements fit on the screen, check for a resolution greater than or equal to 800 x 600. You can adjust the text size by clicking View, then Text Size within your browser's toolbar menu.
The information and interactive capabilities of thrivent.com are best accessed using one of the following browsers with JavaScript and images enabled: Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x or 7.x, Mozilla Firefox 2.x, or Apple Safari 3.x. We also recommend Adobe Acrobat Reader version 5.x or above and Adobe Flash Player 7.x or above. Other browsers and readers may work, but we cannot guarantee quality access. In some situations, software installed on your computer, your Internet Service Provider, or phone line in your area may affect the quality of your thrivent.com experience.

Q. Are the Thrivent Financial Web sites secure?
A. The Thrivent Financial Web sites offer areas for handling sensitive or confidential information. These pages utilize an Internet method known as Secure Socket Layers (SSL). With SSL engaged, pages are sent to you in an encrypted format, and any information you submit to Thrivent Financial is also encrypted. This method of transferring sensitive data is considered the industry standard for the Internet. For your security, we highly recommend you update your browser to SSL-capable features. Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Apple Safari are three browsers that support these encryption techniques. A solid lock graphic will display when the SSL mode is engaged and the connection is encrypted. If you are not sure if your browser is compatible, check with your service provider.
Q. What browser is needed to access secured areas of thrivent.com?
A. In order to access the secured areas of thrivent.com you will need to use Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x or above, Mozilla Firefox 2.x or above, or Apple Safari 3.x or above.
Q. Do I need to have 128-bit encryption?
A. Yes. In order to access secured areas of thrivent.com you will need to use a browser that supports a minimum of 128-bit encryption.
Q. How do I know if my browser supports 128-bit encryption (required to access secure areas of thrivent.com)?

Microsoft Internet Explorer
Click on Help and select About Internet Explorer. The window that pops up should say "Cipher strength: 128-bit". If it doesn't, you will need to upgrade your browser.
Mozilla Firefox
Visit a Web page that is normally encrypted (secure), such as the thrivent.com log in page. Double-click on the lock icon located in the right side of the browser's address bar. If you see a message stating, "Connection Encrypted: High-grade Encryption (RC4 128 bit)", then your browser supports 128-bit encryption.
Apple Safari
Visit a Web page that is normally encrypted (secure), such as the thrivent.com log in page. If you see a lock icon located just to the left of the minimize button in the upper-right of the window, then your browser supports 128-bit encryption.
Q. Will I be able to use MSN TV (formerly WebTV)?
A. Yes, the secured areas of thrivent.com are accessible using MSN TV.
