Brad Hewitt oversees Thrivent Financial for Lutherans’ chapter system, philanthropic activities and church relations functions. Hewitt joined Thrivent Financial in 2003 and also serves as president of the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Foundation and as liaison to the fraternal committee of the Thrivent Financial board of directors.
Hewitt began his career in 1982 with Minnesota Mutual Life, St. Paul, Minn., and joined United HealthCare Corp., Minneapolis, in 1986 as director of underwriting. From 1993-1998, he served as chief financial officer and then as president and chief executive officer of Diversified Pharmaceutical Services, Minneapolis. From 1998-2003, Hewitt was chief administrative officer of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod in St. Louis.
Hewitt serves on the board of the Lutheran Community Foundation. He has also served on the board of Lutheran World Relief and the policy/government relations group for Lutheran Services in America, the largest U.S. faith-based service group.
A native of Minneapolis, he received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and graduated from the Program for Management Development at Harvard University. He also received an honorary doctorate in law from Concordia University, St.Paul, Minn.
